The Canada Greener Homes Initiative is a program from the federal government aimed at raising the energy efficiency of residential buildings, reducing greenhouse emissions, and stimulating the growth of a greener economy. It offers financial incentives for homeowners to help undertake home improvements to make them more energy-efficient and resilient in face of extreme weather. The Initiative is comprised of a Canada Greener Homes Grant of up to $5,000, and an interest-free Canada Greener Homes Loan of up to $40,000. Both the Grant and the Loan are conditional on performing an EnerGuide home evaluation with a NRCan approved energy advisor. An extra of up to $600 towards the cost of the energy assessment is also available.
